Dear Parents, Caregivers, and Grandparents,

Welcome back Brown International Academy to another school year as we “Sow the Seeds of Knowledge with the Brown International Academy PTA!” My name is Donna Lowe, and I’m proud to be your President of the PTA. I am the mother of Mason Kennedy Lowe who attends Brown International Academy and will be in the First grade. My husband of fifteen years, Marty Lowe and myself are extremely proud to be part of the Brown International Academy family.

My goal this year is to support our wonderful school and community. I want to keep families informed and make it easier for parents to be involved, and raise money so that the PTA can help the school enrich our children’s education.

The PTA Board has been very busy planning numerous assemblies, programs, and activities for our Brown International Academy students, parents, caregivers, and grandparents this school year. Our children will be enriched with all of these PTA sponsored programs such as the International Fall Festival, The Learning Garden, Guest Speakers, Assemblies by various related arts programs, Holiday music program, Chef Night, Multicultural Day, The Ambassador Mentoring Program, Book Club, Book Fairs, Starbucks Community Coffee, PTA parties, Family Fun Night, Field Days, and numerous other activities that we will continue to

develop for the school year.

How does the PTA sponsor such programs that enrich our children’s education? We can only sponsor these programs with YOUR support. Our theme this year is “Sow the Seeds of Knowledge with the Brown International Academy PTA .” Help us reach this goal by becoming a member of the PTA, not only do you help to provide our children with the programs and activities listed above, you also help support better education, secure adequate laws for the care and protection of our children, advocate for additional state funding, and have access to more resources nationwide. I invite you to view the national PTA website at www.pta.org. So, please join our Brown International Academy PTA. The fee is $5 PER Parent, Caregiver, and Grandparent. Our membership chairperson will be happy to assist in signing you up!

Speaking of membership…one of the many things we are most proud of at Brown International Academy are the numerous moms, dads, grandparents, and caregivers that volunteer their time for our children. Brown International Academy boasts as having some of the most active volunteers in the Chattanooga School System. On the membership sheet is a list of volunteer opportunities. Please take a moment to mark those of interest and send it back to school with your child. We realize that many parents work, stay home with children, or have unique schedules but still want to contribute their time. I welcome you to email or call the Membership Chairperson so you can be matched up with the opportunities that fit your schedule. The other way to support the school and the many programs that they offer your child is through a tax-deductible donation!

I am really looking forward to enhancing your children’s experiences at Brown International Academy.

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Tennessee acts as a voice for teachers, parents and their children. This non-profit association currently has over 100.000 participants state wide and has been functioning sing 1911.

The purposes of the Hamilton County PTA include:

To promote the welfare of the children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship

To raise the standards of home life

To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth

To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teacher may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth

To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education
