Math Resources
Kathy Long, Lead Math Teacher @ BIA

“Focus all you do on student thinking which helps us to teach for understanding.”
“Make sure you are being mathematically productive throughout your math lessons.”

  • Brown International Academy uses a new mathematics program to HCDE schools called EnVision.  It is a system-wide adoption that we are required to use in order to implement a successful mathematics curriculum.
Notes for Teachers:
  • Each school will receive one complete set of Investigations TEs *These should be placed in the teacher library for additional math resources.)
  • Each school will receive one complete set (K-5) enVision TEs for the exceptional education department.
  • Each teacher will receive Math Diagnosis and Intervention System: K-3 or  4-6
  • Each student will receive a bag of manipulatives – one time gift this year (Be mindful that these will need to last 6 years.)
  • HCDE expectation – 90 minute block of math daily
  • With RTTT funds, we have purchased additional math manipulatives for teachers.  We started with the 5th grade.  On August 4th, fifth grade math teachers were given two tubs of manipulatives.  Additional manipulatives to 5th grade teachers will be shared in PD this year.  Over the next three years, we will provide approx. $500 of manipulatives with PD to each teacher in grades K-5
